How to Unlock the Greenhouse in Stardew Valley

Once repaired, the Greenhouse becomes one of the most rewarding and valuable buildings in Stardew Valley. It’s a pretty object with a powerful feature that helps your character (a dedicated farmer) grow crops and fruit trees all year round.

You can plant, grow, and harvest strawberries in winter, pumpkins in spring, and ancient fruit forever,  any plant at any time of the year, without worrying about the changing seasons, because those restrictions don’t bind the greenhouse.

Crows won’t be able to terrorize your crops, and your artisan goods will never run out of raw ingredients. Most importantly, unlocking it marks a significant step forward in your Community Center journey, proving that your farm is thriving.

Whether you’re chasing perfection or just want a steady income without the stress of seasons, the Greenhouse quickly becomes the heart of your farm. Here’s everything you need to know to successfully unlock and make the most out of your Greenhouse in Stardew Valley.

About the Greenhouse

In the early days of your game, you’ll easily notice a desolate, rundown building to the left of your farmhouse. That’s the Greenhouse, though it’s far from its glory days. It needs (a lot of) fixing, which you cannot do by simply clicking a repair button or buying it straight from Robin’s shop.

The real challenge in restoring the Greenhouse lies in the first step,  deciding whether to unlock it by completing the Pantry Bundle for the Community Center or by purchasing it through the Joja Community Development Form.

Community Center Route

Choosing the Community Center path is the noble route. This is because you won’t just be helping yourself, but also the entire town. The Center has six rooms (Crafts Room, Pantry, Fish Tank, Boiler Room, Bulletin Board, and Vault), each serving a purpose and helping the villagers in different ways.

To restore the greenhouse, though, you need to complete the Pantry Bundle by collecting the required items listed on the scroll and offering them to the Junimos who inhabit the pantry. Most of these items will come from your own crops and produce. Here’s the detailed list of what you’ll need:

Summer Crops Bundle

  • Tomato
  • Hot Pepper
  • Blueberry
  • Melon
  • Reward: Quality Sprinkler

Fall Crops Bundle

  • Corn
  • Eggplant
  • Pumpkin
  • Yam
  • Reward: Bee House

Quality Crops Bundle

  • Parsnip
  • Melon
  • Pumpkin
  • Corn
  • Reward: Preserves Jar

Spring Crops Bundle

  • Parsnip
  • Green Bean
  • Cauliflower
  • Potato
  • Reward: Speed-Gro

Animal Bundle

  • Large Milk
  • Large Egg (Brown)
  • Large Egg (White)
  • Large Goat Milk
  • Wool
  • Duck Egg
  • Reward: Cheese Press

Artisan Bundle

  • Truffle Oil
  • Cloth
  • Goat Cheese
  • Cheese
  • Honey
  • Jelly
  • Apple
  • Apricot
  • Orange
  • Peach
  • Pomegranate
  • Cherry
  • Reward: Keg

This route may seem mundane and time-consuming, but here’s a tip: don’t pressure yourself to finish everything within the first year of your game. Just anticipate each season, plant the crops and produce the goods you’ll need, and save at least one of each item in a chest dedicated to your Community Center quest, all while taking your time to enjoy the game. Before you know it, you’ll have everything ready to complete the bundle.

Once you’ve properly planned your seasonal planting strategy and gathered all the items, simply head to the Community Center, hand them over to the Junimos, collect your rewards, and everything will fall into place.

JojaMart Route

If you have decided to take the JojaMart restoration route, all you really need is a hefty amount of gold. Once you’ve saved up enough, you can easily restore the Greenhouse and unlock its features by paying 35,000 gold to Morris, the JojaMart manager. Keep in mind that before you can start any of the Joja Community Development projects, you will need to agree to convert the Community Center into a Joja Warehouse and buy a JojaMart membership, which costs 5,000 gold.

These are the two ways to bring the Greenhouse back to life, and it’s up to you if you want to earn it with sweat, soil, and Junimo magic, or just use your gold at the JojaMart counter, since both methods work. But the difference lies in how you get there, and what kind of farmer you want to be.
